About Toma Café
Toma Café, founded in 2011 in the Malasaña neighbourhood by Santi Rigoni and Patricia Alda, is widely credited as one of the shops that started Madrid’s specialty coffee scene. It began as a small takeaway counter and remains one today: no laptops, no lingering, just a focused bar serving well-sourced coffee.
Roasting and Sourcing
The shop roasts its own beans on site, skipping the torrefacto (sugar-roasted) style that dominates traditional Spanish cafés, and rotates single-origin lots through espresso and filter menus.
Location
The original Toma Café sits on Calle de la Palma in Malasaña; the brand has since opened additional counters elsewhere in the neighbourhood.
